ABSTRACT
It is expected that in the second half of XXI century a substantial change will take place in the world structure of primary fuels used. Resources of petroleum will be depleted, and the access to the natural gas will be considerably limited. Therefore return to the wide use of coal for energy production will be unavoidable and moreover coal is going to take back his position in chemical industry.Main challenge related to the development of 'clean' coal- technologies arise from the necessity to reduce drastically the emission of carbon dioxide in power production and to substitute crude oil products. As a result of the forced technological progress a modern gasification processes are in use, which attract chemical industry particularly due to possibility to develop competitive technologies for hydrogen, methanol or liquid fuels production. Those undertakings have still an innovative character and from that reason they need extensive involvement of R&D component to become mature technologies.
