ABSTRACT
The article discusses methods used over the world for monitoring underground storage of carbon dioxide. The methods are: measurements of reservoir and exploitation parameters, direct measurements for CO2 detection indirect measurements for CO2 plume detection (geophysical well - logging: induction, gamma ray, neutron sonic; 3 D time - lapse seismic, cross-well seismics, electromagnetic monitoring of CO2 sequestration, electric resistance tomography, gravimetric monitoring of aquifers, passive seismic monitoring), satellite and air monitoring for investigating land surface deformation. Research on monitoring in presently operating projects of carbon dioxide underground injection is characterized.
